Occupational Therapist and Living Well Team Lead

I’ve officially been working with South Lincoln Healthcare since October 2020, however I spent the previous 18 months on secondment with the organisation, working with Brant Road and Cliff Villages Surgeries as their ‘First Contact’ Occupational Therapist. In this role I was able to integrate an occupational therapy service into a GP practice setting, enabling people with multiple mental and physical health long-term conditions to have access to personalised assessment and intervention which addresses functional decline, building resilience, keeping them safe with a focus on ‘what matters to you’.

I absolutely love being an occupational therapist and have worked in a range of settings. I have worked with patients in a hospital setting recovering from trauma and orthopaedic injuries, helped people overcome hand and upper limb injuries and long term conditions that affect their ability to engage with daily life. I have worked in the community providing rapid response for people who are struggling to manage at home and need rapid intervention to remain as safe and well as they can possibly be.

I’ve had many adventures along the way and I can genuinely say that each day is different and even after 11 years I love what I do for a living! What started out as a small pilot to establish whether occupational therapy can be delivered effectively in a primary care setting has since evolved and is now a fundamental component of South Lincoln Healthcare’s ‘Living Well’ Team. I’m excited for the future, building on the achievement made so far to provide the best possible care and support for our patients in South Lincoln Healthcare.
